Iqbal is a movie about bravery and the willingness to follow your dream in the face of adversity. The enchanting film is set against the backdrop of the national obsession Cricket!
Iqbal is an 18-year old deaf and dumb boy who lives in the tiny town of Kolipad. Iqbal harbors but one dram to make it to the Indian cricket team! Unable to attend any kind of vocational school, Iqbal spends his time grazing his father buffalos (all of whom are named after famous cricket players), bowling on a makeshift pitch by himself and dreaming that one day with Guruji help he will make the national team.
Iqbal father hates cricket believing it to be a total waste of time His mother however, helps him to meet Guruji and is accepted in to the academy. But problems arise when the other wealthier kids have an issue with a poor farmer kid stealing the glory. This conflict leads to Iqbal being thrown out of the academy.
A shattered Iqbal picks up the pieces and enlists the help of the town drunk Mohit, who once upon a time was a promising cricketer, to coach him. And their journey begins towards the seemingly insurmountable goal of making the national team.
With poignancy, humor and passion intertwined with the cricket madness Iqbal is a heart-warming entertainer that celebrates the joy of life, while making you rise and cheer with Iqbal as he runs towards his destiny. |

It may be the standard underdog film bio, but I found it extremely heart-warming, and excellently done. The rural cinematography was tip-top. Nasruddin Shah was at his best, the ultimate professional. The entire cast was charming and empathy-eliciting. Too bad those outside of the Commonwealth group of nations may not get to appreciate this movie, being unfamiliar with the game of cricket. |

Iqbal is not a movie that merely concentrates on cricket; it also portrays the unending spirit to beat the difficulties that come one's way to victory. The cricket madness woven with the desire to win will surely make you enjoy it. |

Iqbal is a story of aim to have a way of a life. The way of life being cricket and to live it as a fast bowler. Iqbal is deaf and dumb. Cricket is much more then a simple game in modern era. He is in a family which is burdened in financial crisis and has a father who hates the word cricket. With his hard work he makes his place in india cricket team. In short moview is good. |

Another good non-formula movie from Bollywood. It rates just like any uplifting baseball movie from Hollywood. The cast has done a good job. Definitely a great family movie for impressionable kids. |
